Welcome to Springtime

Yes it's official - spring is here! The daffodils are out, the central heating has been turned down, and we've all been given a tantalising glimpse of the coming summer.

So why is it the beginning of spring? It's all down to the spring equinox. What is that you may ask? The word “equinox” derives from the Latin words meaning “equal night” and refers to the time when the sun crosses the equator. At such times, day and night are everywhere of nearly equal length everywhere in the world.
